The United States is honored to work with its partner countries as we seek to save lives, ensure we are collectively better prepared to detect and report novel and emerging pathogens, and defeat deadly outbreaks such as COVID-19.
In support of the Government of Armenia in the fight against COVID-19, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) equal to over 26 000 USD to both the RA Ministry of Health (MOH) “Nork” Infectious Disease Clinical Hospital and the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).
DTRA has a long-standing partnership with the RA MOH “Nork” Infectious Disease Clinical Hospital, providing trainings for clinicians and laboratory specialists and upgrading the security system of the hospital laboratory in the past. DTRA also has a strong and enduring partnership with the RA MES, in the framework of which DTRA provided training to emergency situations responders and upgraded their HAZMAT response equipment. From the beginning of the outbreak the RA MOH “Nork” hospital has been directly involved in treating patients diagnosed with COVID-19, and the RA MES has had a core role in preventing the spread of the disease by carrying out disinfection of public places. Both partners have been in need of PPE and DTRA assisted them by providing over 10 000 units of PPE and supplies, including KN95 masks, surgical masks, gowns and caps, gloves and protective goggles as well as alcohol-based and chlorine-based decontaminant for disinfection of surfaces.
DTRA is committed to maintaining the high level of cooperation with the RA MOH “Nork” Infectious Disease Clinical Hospital and the RA MES and is looking forward to continued fruitful collaboration with its partners.
