INL-FBI-Justice Academy Partnership: Social Media and Open Source Investigations Training

The International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) Office of the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan organized a three-day training on social media and open source investigations for investigators from the Special Investigative Service, Investigative Committee, and National Security Service, and for representatives from the Ministry of Justice.  This collaborative effort utilized Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) expertise, INL funding and design, and the Justice Academy as a venue.

The FBI expert shared digital investigative techniques used to build criminal cases and provided insight into the types of information found in internet open source databases, incriminating statements and evidence found in social media, and global network tools and applications for effective and efficient investigation of criminal cases.

This training supports Armenia’s efforts to modernize its law enforcement and counter transnational crime and drug trafficking, while also helping to keep Americans safe at home by countering international crime, gangs, and illegal drugs abroad.
