The United States established diplomatic relations with Armenia in 1992, following its independence from the Soviet Union. Together, the two countries work to reduce poverty, expand trade and investment, promote the work of civil society groups, and broaden access to healthcare. The United States is committed to strengthening democracy and the formation of an open market economy in Armenia and promote regional stability, peace, and prosperity.
