FOREIGN NATIONAL STUDENT INTERN PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT

Duration of Internship: 6 months
Work Hours: 10-20 hours per week
Compensation: There is no compensation for volunteer work.
The U.S. Embassy in Yerevan, Armenia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Intern in the Public Diplomacy (PD) section.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Draft correspondence and answer phone calls.
Escort public diplomacy section guests and program participants in the Embassy.
Assist with cultural events (coordinate tickets, translate for American performers, assist with venue preparation, etc.).
Assist with press events (escort journalists and camera operators, take photos)
Assist with press work (gathering news articles).
Assist with grant work (filing, financial reports).
Assist with social media efforts, including writing and translating posts for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the Embassy website.
Assist the American Center (formerly IRC) (programming and research).
Assist educational exchange participants with locating housing, preparing documents for orientation sessions, etc.
Assist with exchange program alumni events and databases and take photos.
Other clerical duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Background in International affairs, Mass communications, Journalism, Linguistics, and/ or event planning is preferred;
Must have Level III (Good Working Knowledge) in English and level IV (fluent) in Armenian;
Must be computer literate;
Must possess general office management skills;
Should be discreet, responsible, flexible, detail-oriented, able to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
WHO MAY APPLY:
Non-U.S. citizen student in good academic standing at his/her current educational institution.
Must be a continuing student upon completion of the internship.
Able to demonstrate the potential to accomplish the type of work to be performed. Must be at least 18 years of age;
After selection, the student must receive security and medical clearances.
