Message for U.S. Citizens: Important Information about Renewing Your Passport
***New*** DS-82 Drop Off Hours Every Friday Starting September 10
Beginning Tuesday, September 7, 2021 U.S. citizens applying for a passport renewal via a DS-82 form will no longer be required to make an appointment. Starting the week of September 7, applicants applying to renew passports via a DS-82 DO NOT NEED TO MAKE AN ONLINE APPOINTMENT. Instead, they should visit the U.S. Embassy American Citizen Services section any Friday (excluding holidays) between 9 am – 12 pm.
Applicants must bring a completed, correct DS-82 form which is completed, signed, and dated the day of drop off. Applicants also much bring their current passport, recent passport photos, and cash payment (dollars or drams). DS-82 Walk In Hours will be offered every Friday, excluding holidays, between 9 am – 12 pm. You can find the DS-82 form and more information on filling it out here.
To be eligible for this service, you must meet these criteria:
- Your current passport was issued when you were age 16 and older;
- Your current passport was issued in the last 15 years;
- Your current passport must be in your possession (not lost or stolen);
- Your current passport must be undamaged (other than normal wear and tear);
- Your current passport was issued in your name or you can provide documents to support a name change.
If you DO NOT meet the above criteria, please make an appointment online. Please note that families with minors renewing passports with DS-11 forms MUST make appointments online through the scheduling system here. This application requires both parents and the minor child to be present at the interview.
