FOREIGN NATIONAL STUDENT INTERN PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT

Duration of Internship: 6 months
Work Hours: 10-20 hours per week
Compensation: There is no compensation for volunteer work.
The U.S. Embassy in Yerevan, Armenia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Intern in the Regional Security Office (RSO).
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Draft correspondence and answer phone calls.
- To control, manage, and send correspondence.
- Help in the drafting of crime summary reports and security situation reports.
- Monitor open-source websites, social media, and local and foreign media sources to assist the RSO Office with identifying security trends and issues.
- Compile, analyze, and prepare reports based on data.
- Office clerical duties.
- Provide assistance in translation of materials.
- Prepare brief presentations for the RSO Office as requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Background in International Affairs, Law, History, Journalism, Linguistics, and/or event planning is preferred.
- Must have Level III (Good Working Knowledge) in English and level IV (fluent) in Armenian;
- Must be computer literate; Advanced MS Office Suite abilities.
- Must be adept at social media and internet research, and analysis.
- Must be able to organize office records; prepare correspondence; get along well with colleagues; deal tactfully with contacts; must have very good verbal and oral communication skills.
- Should be discreet, responsible, flexible, detail-oriented, able to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
WHO MAY APPLY:
- Non-U.S. citizen student in good academic standing at his/her current educational institution.
- Must be a continuing student upon completion of the internship.
- Able to demonstrate the potential to accomplish the type of work to be performed.
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- After selection, the student must receive security and medical clearances.
