Event: The U.S. Embassy wishes to inform U.S. citizens of an increase of local media reports of planned demonstrations in Yerevan, including a demonstration scheduled for Saturday, September 2 in downtown Yerevan.
Recent protests have caused civil disruption in the form of spontaneous road closures in Yerevan. Large crowds are unpredictable, and confrontations and violence among event attendees, counterdemonstrators, and police can occur with little or no warning. American citizens should exercise vigilance and remain alert and aware of their surroundings.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid the area.
- Monitor local media for updates.
- Avoid crowds.
- Avoid demonstrations.
- Notify friends and family of your safety.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
