A demonstration is expected to be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015, beginning at 5:30 PM at Hrazdan Stadium. A larger demonstration is also expected on Friday, June 19, 2015, beginning at 6:30 PM at Freedom Square, near the Opera House. According to reports, the participants of Friday’s demonstration will march along the following circular route: along Sayat Nova Avenue, then along Abovyan Street to Republic Square, and then along Amiryan Street and Mashtots Avenue to Freedom Square. Traffic in these areas will likely be congested. Reports indicate that Friday’s event could attract thousands of demonstrators.
Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
