Over the past five years, more than 60 women from the Armenian police and the Investigative Committee have participated in the annual Women in Policing (WIP) Conference in Georgia with the support of the U.S. Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Office (INL).
The conference empowers, inspires, and educates female police officers and law enforcement investigators. It provides a forum for them to share best practices and learn modern techniques from their international peers in areas such as defensive tactics, ballistics examination, death investigations, investigating domestic violence, crisis negotiations, management, and leadership.
In April 2017, the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan hosted conference alumni to discuss the sessions and their value. The conversations continued the dialogue about gender issues in law enforcement in both Armenia and in the United States.
